To market, to market...

terrieI'm updating my resume. Blah. I knew I was going to have to -- my current position was only for the school year. Still, not my idea of a good time. *sigh*
I also need to consider where I'm willing to go. Part of me would love to stay here. I love this town, and while not most people's idea of the big city, we really have just about everything a person could ask for. Heck, the Twin Cities have more theaters, per capita, than NYC! We've got an amazing farmer's market, a great SE Asian food scene, and if you like parks, we are THE place to be. More than that, I know this place. There's a comfort in that.
By contrast, most of my friends seem to live elsewhere. Not that I couldn't make friends here (I simply haven't had time between school and work for a social life), but it would be nice, if I have to move, to move somewhere where I know somebody. And I may have to move for work. The only place hiring in my field right now is that local Catholic university. There have been some things in the last year or two that have made the news, where the school has taken a few actions based on the faculty's personal lives. Nothing like firing them, but there was a big to-do where two profs chaperoning a trip were forced to reserve two hotel rooms, because they were an unmarried couple. Alone, not too big a deal, but this was a change from their previous policy and I don't want to find my employer making noises about my personal life for any reason if the university gets worse.
