So, my grandmother had a mild stroke today. Quite the shock. She's been insanely healthy most of her life. She's stable, and other than a bit of weakness in her right side and a touch of slurred speech, she's fine. Still, made for a crappy day.
Thing is, the fact that she's doing so well is good. It bodes well for a complete recovery. And now that they know about the stroke, they can be on the look out for more, monitor her more closely, get her on meds, that sort of thing.
Yes, it's scary and bad and it'd be better if it never happened. But this is perhaps the best outcome you could hope for, and knowledge is key for your grandmother to live a healthy rest of her life. *hugs*
Thanks. Heard today that she's a bit worse, but apparently that's normal. *sigh* My parents were supposed to go on vacation, starting this Friday, but that's been scratched. My mom's going to try to change her plane ticket to go down and see her. (It's my maternal grandmother). Keep your fingers crossed.
