Yep, more thoughts on Stargate

So, this year, the villans are not power-hungry meglomaniacs setting themselves up with their own personal cult. This year, it's fundies. Kinda makes you wonder if the writers don't have issues with religion. Also, Vala had pig tails at the end! *squeee* That was too, too cute. I can't explain it, but so my favorite part of this episode.

I am a bit disappointed that Vala will be in the next episode. I love her, but "Look who's back" would be a but more effective if she'd been, you know, gone in the first place.

Okay, I get why some people were a bit worried about what was done with Rodney this time through. But I think it makes sense. Rodney always struck me as one of those guys who tries really, really hard to control the little things, because he knows how out of control the big things can get. Plus, he wasn't just worrying about himself. He kept wondering why didn't anyone else get how serious radiation can be. I mean, everyone on that planet? Probably just increased their chances of skin cancer by, like, ten. The only comment that bugged me was the repeated "fair skin" ones. Mainly because they were only a set up for the "This is not fair" joke.

As for his trouble pulling his handgun? I'd have been pissed if he'd pulled it easily. I've worn those big rubber gloves. Very little fine motor control. I did like that he shot Ford and then ran like hell. Ford... Ford was damned disturbing. That moment where, after shooting Major Lorne, he's all "Hey, we can get caught up now." Perfect.

Ronan Dex. Honestly? I don't care. He takes time away from the people I do want to see. Novak, Zelenka, cranky Hermiod. We did not need token alien muscle. Next week looks to be "Why he's cooler than everyone else." This makes me care even less.

Ford was downright creepy. Kudos to RSF; wish he'd done more of this type of thing last season.

And I'm willing to give Dex a shot, basically because finally there's someone I can see having chemistry with Teyla, and now I have hopes they won't cram Sheppard/Teyla down our throats. (Of course, that's offset by the sure knowledge they'll play a triangle for all it's worth, plus the fact that then they'd be pairing up the aliens.)

Oh, and *does not care, is sinful pure in nonsexual love for Vala* I want Vala in as a regular, damn it.

See, I think this is worse. In a triangle situation, you can't leave as much unsaid. I would have gladly seen it stay at the level of the "What are you doing with yourhand?" scene for many, many seasons. Instead, we will get posturing of two wanna be alpha males.

Yeah, me too. I really hope there's not as much of him in the episode as the trailer implies.
