Yeah, weekend!
May. 16th, 2005 03:03 pmSo, I finished my tests on Thursday. I spent Friday and Sat. morning killing time. And then, on Sat., around 10ish in the morning, I left for Beloit! Yeah, Beloit! Thanks to books on tape, the drive was relatively painless. Books on tape are one of the great godsends of the universe. Ran into Nancy McDowell at a rest stop in the way there. Promised to stop by Anthro dept. next morning. Got there around, maybe threeish? Spent the next couple hours killing more time and waiting for Carrie and Conan to show up.
When they did show up there was much hugging and squealing and jumping up and down. Hey, it's been three years. After the happy reunion, we headed back to their hotel. I got to crash on their couch, which was nice of them. Dumped my stuff and then I trounced them both at air hockey. Ah, the joys of being mathmatically inclined. It's just geometry.
After that, Carrie and Conan went off to watch Carrie's brother be academically impressive. I grabbed dinner and went to hang out more in D until they got back. Talked to people. Watched people play video games. Realized that, even if the faces are different, D is largely the same. It smells exactly the same. It's still trashed. They do have new furniture in the lounge.
You know how there's always a Bitter Senior(TM)? Found out from Alex that I was the Bitter Senior(TM) for my year. Was a bit shocked. I remember being bitter, but didn't think I was THAT bitter. Huh. You learn something new every day.
When people got back from dinner, there was drinking. I didn't drink, but I do remember being so tired I was mildly loopy. I seem to remember offering to show the room my breats to prove that, yes, I had them. Headed back to the hotel with Carrie around 1 am. Gah. And then we stayed up till 2 talking.
Got up too early on Sunday morning. Grabbed breakfast. Headed to the anthro department and saw people. Yeah, people. I miss the anthro dept. It was great, great fun. Then it was cold and icky and I headed home. Got sick to my stomach and threw up in a Wendy's bathroom on the way home. That part sucked. I think something I ate didn't like me. Still, even if I'd have known I was going to be ill, I would have gone anyway. It was great to see people. I miss people.

Date: 2005-05-17 02:37 pm (UTC)My mother was fairly seriously sick to her stomach on Sunday night. Mine turned over this morning (fortunately, I have a lovie to grab a wastebasket and hold my hair... also fortunately I managed not to actually be sick, but it was close.)
Pity we didn't have time for more air hockey! I thought about dragging you out there after we came back, but a) we both severely needed sleep and b) you beat me when I was sober, what happens when I'm tipsy?
GREAT seeing you.
