It's rainy here today. Kinda strange when you think that less than two weeks ago we have two to three inches of snow. Very odd. Not that I'm complaining too much, mind you. I'm ready for spring. I want to break out the grill and have fresh veggies and I can't WAIT until the farmer's market starts up it's longer hours. Massive amounts of fresh lettuce, berries of various types, the carrots -- oh, lordie, the carrots! Sweet and crisp and tender. Mmmmmm. Itty, bitty potatoes and later on, more tomatoes than any human being could eat in a lifetime. Cheap meat that tastes worlds better than anything you could get in the store. Ground buffalo and chicken breasts that actually have flavor. Damn. Now I'm getting hungry.

Had good food last night. I've learned to make pizza dough from scratch and if I use the standing mixer, it only takes about fifteen minutes to through it together and then I can set it aside to rise. It's really good. Very light, not greasy and heavy like commerical pizza. I use Sargento's Italian blend of cheese (mozzarella, smoked provolone, asiago, fontina, romano and parmesan), so you got a lot more flavor with a lot less cheese. With fresh diced tomatoes, artichoke hearts and some red onion, it made for a very tasty, healthy, non-greasy pizza. As a result, you never get that nasty heavy feeling that some pizzas give you. The biggest down side? I wish it was twice as big. It's REALLY good.

In other news, I want to hold David Hewlett hostage in my basement. This is probably unhealthy, but it's so nice to see a nerdy actor play a nerdy character on a nerdy show. You can read an interview with him here. For those who don't know, he plays Dr. Rodney McKay on Stargate: Atlantis.

Too often, actors on these sort of shows are kinda condescending to their fans. Now, I'm not talking about the nutso "Please explain how the tech works" fans, but the rest of us, who, while we probably remember entirely to many lines, are still just people with a hobby. The best example I can think of is with the Spiderman movies. Both Toby Maguire and Kristen Dunst are not comic book fans. While mildly disappointing, I was okay with that. Until Dunst made an offhand comment about comic books being a "boy thing." For some reason, that really bothered me. That automatic assumption that girls play with dolls and boys play with actions figures just underscored for me the fact that, in too many people's eyes, female nerds are mythical. You don't have to be a nerd yourself, but seriously, I'll respect you much more if you at least try to get an idea of who your audience is.

You're welcome. I got it from someone else (I now, of course, forget where), so I can't take total credit. It IS very fun, though.
