Am I dead yet?
Dec. 11th, 2005 03:37 pmFinals have started. Oh, the joy. Took my first one on Friday. It was a two hour exam, three essay questions. I feel pretty good about it, except for the last question. I keep thinking I'm missing somethign important, but the most I can come up with is that I failed to explain why one issue didn't apply. Of course, the professor says that we shouldn't spend time explaining things that don't apply, but we'll see if that holds true when it comes to grading.
Then, yesterday, I did my oral argument on my appelate brief. I got to shock my professors by doing it without notes. This is one of those things that simply isn't done. I do wish I'd brought them and then left them on the desk when I got up to speak, just for appearances. But I'm glad I did it, because this is the first exercise this semester where I didn't have a problem with eye contact.
My next task, besides studying for my other finals, which aren't for over a week, is to figure out what we're doing for dinner for Christman. We may do beef, in the form of a tenderloin or a rib roast, or duck or leg of lamb. Need to talk to my brother, see what he wants, if he even has a preference. (With my luck, it'll be "anything not turkey"). Once the main course is figured out, we can figure out the rest of it. Of course, in my family, dessert is always rice pudding on Xmas, so that's already figured out.
I also still need to finish shopping for gifts. I'm probably going to put togther a suski kit for my mom, since she's expressed interest in learnign how to make it. I can get most of the supplies fairly cheap at the local asian market. Then add a basic book on how to make it. Should be cheaper than those premade kits you see every where. My dad is getting "Basic Cooking Skills for Dummies." Now that he only works part time, we expect him to cook, only he lacks skills and trying to teach him always turns into doing it for him, because he's so slow to learn that we'd die of starvation before he's done. My brother... I have no clue what to get him. I'm leaning towards a gift certificate to Target, because I really have no clue what he wants or needs.
