Mixed blessings
May. 30th, 2005 02:59 pmThe Good news:
I have an internship. I'm the intern for the State Law Library's service for prisoners. I look up stuff the request and copy it so it can be mailed off. Not the most glamerous thing in the world, but it's really developing my research skills.
I also have a paying job. This is at my school library. It's not actual librarian work. It's just a work study job, doing cric. desk and shelving. But it is in a library, which is something.
Parents are out of town this week. No one looking over my shoulder and telling me to go out an be social. A nice break. I love my folks, but I'm really am happier being left alone msot of the time. I do like to interact with others, I just want to do it on my terms, not theirs.
Rented a movie, got some ice cream and pop and I'm making pizza for dinner. Tonight is a night for fluff. Yeah, fluff.
The bad news:
We've been trying to get wallpaper for one of the rooms here. We ordered one pattern, but were told "Nope, it's out of stock and discontiued." We couldn't find any others we liked at that sotre, so the next week we went elsewhere. Found a couple we liked, but looking at one, we kept thinking it was the one we'd wanted at the other store. Only the sales lady called and said "Oh, yeas, we can get that." So we ordered it. It arrives. It's the wrong pattern. Okay, by now, my folks are out of town, so I trot back to the store to return the paper. I asked three times "Please make sure everything is correct. We are worried what we want is out of stock." Am told "No problem. It should arrive at your house next week." Get a call that night. I was right. It's the same pattern we hadn't been able to get earlier. They'd written down the wrong page on the order form. So tomorrow I head back to the store to try for the THIRD time to get wallpaper. And they're damn well going to check that it's written down right before I leave.
My car smells of something burning. This is bad. I keep checking. Nothings on fire. So where is the smell coming from? Not sure. It goes to the shop tomorrow. Thankfully, since folks are out of town, am using mom's car. Which has air conditioning. Which is a good thing.
