Research failure

Tonight's Bones episode seriously failed at research. They mentioned the knife was carbon steel and therefore made before 1965. I'm hoping I simply misheard something, because it's a bunch of nonsense. Carbon steel is still the preferred metal for a quality knife. Anyone who's ever been a halfway serious home cook should know that it's still used.
