Some thoughts on Project Runway

I was stunned to hear them call Gretchen's stuff very "now." She's nothing more than a rip-off of the Southwest. (Also, she seems to combine some of the worst personality traits associated with the Southwest and Portland). The Earth Mother look? Never left Santa Fe. It's been around forever. We were shopping up there with some visitors and one of them asked "Are broomstick skirts in style?" in response to a window display. My aunt commented "They are around here." Her better items? Have been done, and done with more style. She depends on regurgitating styles from her childhood that people from other parts of the country haven't seen as much. Dull, dull, dull. And yuck.

Judging from every single response I've seen online, if not understanding why they picked Gretchen = not understanding fashion, than the entire nation less Michael Kors and Nina Garcia are clueless. And given my opinion of Kors in particular, I'm thinking it might be the other way around. I've just stopped on trying to catch up on the season; I have no desire to experience Season3 to the tenth power, which is what this sounds like. (And I'd just gotten to the episode where Mondo comes out as HIV positive and was going "Talented, amazing story, came out like this on air... Well we have our winner, don't we?" And then that. Ugh.)
