Distracting myself
Oct. 14th, 2008 01:17 pmWork is full of crazy patrons and it's only Tuesday. But instead of complaining about that -- because there will be no end to it! -- I thought I'd talk about game. Because I need to think about something fun.
Werewolf has started up again. Our VST, after insisting he just couldn't do it anymore, made it all of two months before he was back. Only once a month right now and on sundays, which is not the best time, but better than nothing. I really get a kick out of my character. I mean, Werewolf is a gaem for those who want to be crude, rude and violent (or, at least, our game is) and Liz fits in just fine. We ended the start-up game with me shooting one of the other characters in the balls for being an idiot. Now I have to apologize to his alpha. Not for shooting the guy, but for preempting the other alpha.
There were a couple of odd players there. One, a gal who plays in many of the venues, surprised me because she HATES combat. Her characters tend to be from the same general mold. Kinda high enery, loud, and "moral high ground" types. The "You shouldn't do bad things because they're bad" type. Her werewolf character is a HIPPIE. As I said, our local Werewolf game is crude, rude and violent. She hated it. I would think that it would have been obvious toher before she even showed up that this wasn't the game for her. I doubt she'll go to the next one. Vampire and Changling are really a better fit to her style.
Then there's the guy who's been showing up to all the games. We call him Creepy Guy. He's a great example of what a Wits 1 character would be like. He simply can't keep up with the pace of game. Heck, he can't seem to keep up with the pace of LIFE. After the first night he showed up, where he pulled out a Playboy during wrap up, we all just sort of want him to go away. This is the down side of the Cam over a privately run troupe game. You can't just kick people out just because everyone else wants him to go away. We keep hoping he'll get frustrated and bored with not being able to keep up. No luck so far.
I've been playing Changling, which I'm enjoying, but it's on a really crappy night for me. Thursday nights. Yuck. I'll be teaching Friday mornings this spring, so I'm going to have to drop it sooner or later, which is a bummer but can't be helped.
