And still more on Zeus
May. 17th, 2008 10:52 amZeus has a docked tail and natural ears. Honestly, I rather wish his ear had been cropped. If he were young enough, I'd actually consider it. He has some of the waxiest ears I have ever seen and I can't help but think cropping them might have helped. I have to clean them at least once a week, and more often two or three times. The vet the rescue took him to didn't think it was an infection, probably just allergies, but I might take him back for a double check. It just doesn't seem natural.
Doberman ears
Date: 2008-10-21 10:55 pm (UTC)I have a 10 year old dobie with cropped ears & docked tail. His ears are waxy too - I could probably clean them every other day. I do it 2 or 3 times a week per the vet's suggestion.
Mine has no stuffed toys - as a youngun, he shredded everything (towels, blankets, towels, socks, stuffed animals, squeaky toys, etc) and then ate the pieces. An abdominal surgery for compacted colon/intestine, a very near death experience for unknown abdominal problems, and a little age (3 or so), he has learned to only shred. In the last few years, he has learned to NOT shred his bed. He now has a nice big bed to sleep on (which sits on top of 4 inches of foam). He has wobbler's & arthritis so he likes the extra cushioning. He still shreds toys so no soft toys.
