I'm looking at apartments right now, and I'm trying to find one with a flexible pet policy. There's a doberman in local rescue who I'd love to get (here). So I called up one place that allows big dogs and ask what breeds aren't allowed. It might have been easier to ask what larger breeds are allowed. Apparently, anything that is or has ever been considered aggressive is not allowed. Dobermans, rotties, akitas, chows, german shepherds, ANY shepherds, boxers, great danes, bloodhounds. And that's just what the person I talked to came up with off the top of her head. I mean, seriously, bloodhounds?

There are some breeds I accept as a given under breed restrictions. I didn't even bother to mention that pit bulls where on her list, becuase of COURSE they're on her list. There on everyone's list these days. But the plus side is I found oneplace that is much more flexible, if a bit pricier. The manager even admitted the reason for pits was that she didn't want to freak out the restof the complex. (Also, Albuquerque has a major problem with problem pit owners). But when I asked about dobes, she was like "Why wouldn't we allow them?"
