I'm in the odd position now of hoping they don't offer me the position I interviewed for on Monday. First, it would mean I don't have to juggle an offer and a later interview. (This position starts Oct. 1, with a week prior to get everything set up with HR. The interview is in the middle of that week). Second, I'm not so sure I'm really qualified. This is a very odd position. It's a small satellite law library within a public library. the main law library, where my boss and all the support staff are, would be on the other side of the county, some 30 minutes away. So everything there would fall on me. The technical side would be minimal, but I'd be doing a lot of coordinating with the public library and the local court. And they were asking about experience withe marketing and teaching classes, neither of which I have.

And, of course, New Mexico job is the sort I'd do almost anything for. I wouldn't kill anyone, but maiming isn't out of the picture. And if I don't get this offer, I can focus fully on that job.

It sounds like the job wouldn't be a good fit. So if they offer it, turn it down.

Take it from someone who just lost her job because I never should have taken it in the first place.

If they do end up offering, I'm going to ask about how they plan to deal with my deficiencies in those areas. If I'm not satisfied, I'll be turning it down.
