SGA Thoughts
Sep. 16th, 2006 03:01 pmLet me first say, there was one thing about this episode I HATED. The kid's name was "Madison." I hate, hate, HATE the name Madison. Do people not remember where it came from? Do people not realize that the whole point of the name in the movie "Splash" was tha it was not a name? (And yes, studies have shown the name was almost non-existent prior to the movie). This is me frothing at the mouth. Stupid, stupid name. I kept wanting an exchange along the lines of:
Rodney: You named her Madison?!? What were you thinking? You're supposed to be smart.
Jean: What's wrong with Madison?
Rodney: What are you going to name the next one? Wall Street?
But let me tell you how I really feel.... Speaking of names, I liked Sam's response to "Meredith" the best. Less teasing, more shock. I wasn't as fond of the team's response. Liek many people, I get a bit squicked by embarrassment, and Ronon's bit about the bullying just made me cringe.
The plot honestly kinda sucked. Actually, there wasn't much of a plot. It was like the writers had three different ideas (Jeanie, Alt!Rodney and drain the ZPM) and had to string them together somehow, because they couldn't figure out where else they could be used. I loved each idea, though, so the total lack of plot was fine by me.
And, finely, allow me to squee over the fact that we got Zelenka in this episode. They need to make him a regular.
That was kinda creepy. Very cool. I loved how Rodney didn't figure out it was effecting him until it became impossible to miss. I pegged it the first time the energy increased. In terms of hallucinations, I actually found Carson's to be the creepiest.
