Belated fannish thoughts
Okay, starting out iwth Scifi Friday, because it's the highlight of my week. Yes, I'm that sad and pathetic.
okay, it's a bad sign when you have to stop and think to remember what the heck teh episode was about. I mean, I did enjoy it, but still, not very standoutish. Maybe it's the fact that I've seen this plot before. Where? Try EVERYWHERE. Seriously, captive and captor slowly develop respect for each other and their unqiue ways of life has been done to DEATH.
Still, it was fun. And I had a flashback to Vala's comments about limited gene pool, since when Mitchell was unconcious on the bed? For a moment, I thought I was looking at Jackson. It's the hair. They have the same cut and color.
The mixed reactions to Conversion have been interesting. What's also interesting is the influence people's shipping preferences have had on thei views. Really, this episode offered something for every pairing, for those who do ship. It's just been a kick to see how people can take the exact same incident on screen and have interpertations that do a 180 from each other.
I liked the episode over all. There were a couple moments that made me go "What the...?" such as Caron's bad science and the rapid retreat without using the salt water. Ah, well, it's cheesy sci-fi. We must learn to ignore these things. My favorite part was probably the team waiting around for word on Sheppard -- with Rodney shoveling food in his mouth as they waited.
This episode also showed that the military is not all US. The guard who was watching Sheppard had a German flag on his arm. Yeah for internationalism.
