Whoa. Dude, you think by now that SGC would learn that you don't go around activating unknown alien technology. It never turns out well. Ever. At least, not the first time.

I did like the Doctor, nice subtle introduction. I pegged her as the General's daughter pretty quick based off of his comments to Vala about having a daughter her age who never listened to him. This may be the most subtle intro EVER in SG history (both series).

And Vala. I love the snipping between her and Daniel, but, like McKay, if she's going to stick around much, she needs more. And we did get some of that with Daniel cradling her in his arms. Very sweet. There's something very visceral about the two of them that makes me alternate between giggling, squeeing and going "Awwwww." While I don't want her there all the time, she does need to show up on a regular basis. Those two are sexual tension at its best.

I really didn't care about Simon. Waste of screen time. However, the staffing scenes were fun. Is it just me or did it look like they were going to give Atlantis to Caldwell? If so, no wonder he was pissy. And I don't think John realizes that Weir got him the promotion. I do wonder what his response to that is going to be. I think its going to depend on what's going on when he finds out. If he's pissed at Earth, he'll be glad she put them in their place, but otherwise, he won't be happy.

I did like John's response to Hermiod, the nekkid alien. Like most, I didn't like McKay's crouch and cover manuver. Okay, I get it wasn't about protecting his "vitals" but about making himself small so he wouldn't get stuck in a wall, but it wouldn have worked better if he'd just tucked in his limbs really tight.
