Sleepy, but happy
Aug. 24th, 2008 02:25 pmSo I'm at work , but not totally awake. It's okay, since on Sundays, the major thing I need to do is actually show up and park my butt in the chair. We've had some reference questions, but not a huge amount. Most of it is simple stuff (How can I find the PATRIOT Act? What's the definition of......? Things like that).
So the reason I'm kinda sleepy is I was up till 1 am. Hardly the latest I stay up on some weekends, but well past my usual bedtime -- most nights I'm out cold by 9:30. I went out for dinner with friends and then we played a boardgame. With ZOMBIES! Everything is made better by zombies. Except food. Food is NOT made better by zombies. I like my food unmoving. Please do not reanimate my burger.
So the game is called Last Night on Earth Players are split into two sides, Zombies and Heros. How many of each depends on how many players. You can run 2-6 players. It's complex enough to keep you engaged, without being so complex to geet frustrating. The power levels are well balanced. It didn't seem like one side had a definite advantage over the other. In fact, who seemed to be ahead went back and forth through out the game. Of course, in this case, the Heros won. Game play is also varied. You run four of eight heros, each of which has different advantages. I was the farmer's daughter. I got bonuses on not having my weapons break, and on fighting in the cornfield or barn. Luckily, the board included the cornfield and barn. It's a central square surrounded by four of six L-shaped pieces, so it will be different each game. It also has different scenerios, with different goals for each side. There are five included in the game, and two more on the website.
Anyway, I would totally recommend the game to anyone who likes boardgames that are aimed at an older crowd. All five of us really enjoyed it.
hermitgeecko, I thought of the game night you took me to while playing.
