So I haven't told you people about my aunt's new puppy. We picked up Lily on Sunday, and within a week she has totally taken over. My uncle refers to her as "the little dictator." She really is. She's only 11 weeks old now and still has all her milk teeth. Pointy, little milk teeth. Last night, she got all riled up and bit my nose. Owie.
I'm adjusting to living with my aunt. Some of the things I expected. Like the different weekly routine. Others are harder, like the food. My aunt is a housewife. She doesn't work. Now, if I didn't work, I'd do some serious cooking. Her, not so much. Not as bad as her youngest sister, who can't cook at all, but a lot of convenience food and short cuts. And junk food. As many people know, I'm a bit of a food snob, so it's been a bit of a shock. Things like pre-formed burgers, or bread that's only a step up from Wonder bread. And the pop! So much pop. It's all Coke, Coke and more Coke. I don't mind some occasionally, but all the time? Also, I'm still in shock over the constant microwaved, frozen veggies. If it's green, it probably went from the freezer to the microwave to the table. For someone who previously ate 95% fresh veggies, it's a bit of a shock.
As soon as I get paid, I'm going to have to start doing some shopping and cooking for myself. I mean, my aunt's cooking is plenty edible, just not what I'm used to. I mean, I'm not a big veggie person, honestly, but I'm seriously craving a salad. And some soup, and some crusty bread. A glass of juice. Cheese. OMG, do I want some serious cheese. Humboldt Fog. A crumbly sharp cheddar. Dang, now I'm making myself hungry. Well, I start work tomorrow, so I'll get paid soon. And then... Watch out!
