Does the phrase "Not helpful" mean anything to you?

My dad borrowed my car last week. THIS week, he told me he had noticed an odd, hot rubber smell and that he thought something was wrong. Mind you, the car drives fine. So I asked him what he thought it was. He suggested maybe a belt was slipping. I had noticed a similar problem and had the belts checked over a month ago. The belts were fine. So I ask what he thought I should do. "Something." So, to translate, he doesn't know what the problem is and has no idea what should be done about it, but there is a problem.

In other news, a contruction crew knocked down a line coming into our house. It's not the phone, it's not cable. I can't figure out what it is, the contruction company that knocked it down (it was caught by a tall load of lumber going down the alley) can't figure out what it is.... Very odd.
