Zeus is now offically mine. I signed the contract and paid the adoption fee yesterday. They give you time to decide if it's a good fit before they take the money, in case things don't work out. Because he's a "special needs" dog, I could have had him for less than the standard adoption fee. I ended up giving them a bit more, simply because I appreciate how much time and money they put into this "defective" dog. If they hadn't taken him, the shelter was going to put him down, because they didn't have the time and money to deal with his bad leg. And I would have missed out on a wonderful dog.
